VERANA FOUNDATION
CANDIDATE TERMS v1 DRAFT 20261012
VERANA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Draft for review by counsel. Not in force. Accepted by every candidate on the Foundation platform before the first assessment.
These Candidate Terms (the "Terms") govern your participation in the Verana Certification Program (the "Program") operated by the Verana Foundation (in formation), represented by 2060 OÜ (Estonia, registry number 16853041) until incorporation (the "Foundation"). The Verana Certification Policy (the "Policy"), published on veranafoundation.org, is part of these Terms. Capitalized terms have the meaning given in the Policy.
1. Enrollment
1.1 You enroll for a Level 1 certification on veranafoundation.org, and for a Level 2 or Level 3 certification through an Authorized Certificator, which onboards you to the Program and records your enrollment with the Certification Office.
1.2 You must be of legal age, hold a Contributor membership of the Foundation (free for individuals, obtained on veranafoundation.org and active at each assessment and at issuance), and provide accurate identity and contact details. The Foundation may ask you to prove your identity before a proctored assessment.
1.3 Workshops, coaching and other services of a Certificator are contracted with the Certificator under its own terms. The Foundation is not a party to that contract.
2. Assessments
2.1 Assessments are conducted under Section 5 of the Policy: knowledge exams on the Foundation platform, practical labs and case studies graded by Certified Instructors against published rubrics, and oral defenses for Level 3.
2.2 You may retake a failed assessment twice, with at least fourteen days between attempts. After a third failure you may enroll again after ninety days.
2.3 You may request a reasonable accommodation before an assessment. Requests are decided by the Certification Office and recorded.
2.4 You shall not copy, record, share or try to obtain assessment content, let anyone take an assessment for you, take one for anyone else, or receive help during an assessment beyond what the Curriculum allows. A breach voids the attempt, may void your existing certifications and may bar you from the Program.
2.5 Proctored assessments may be recorded (screen, camera, audio) for integrity purposes. Recordings are kept under Section 13 of the Policy and are not shared beyond the Certificator and the Foundation except in an appeal or a legal proceeding.
3. Certifications
3.1 A certification is issued when you pass every Module of a Track under one Program Version, or the Level 1 exam, and the applicable fees have been paid.
3.2 A certification is valid for two years and is renewed under Section 6 of the Policy. An expired certification is not restored; you may obtain a new one.
3.3 Your certification is issued as a verifiable credential to a personal wallet you control, and as a certificate with a unique identifier that anyone can verify on veranafoundation.org. The credential contains your name, the Track, the level, the Program Version, the identifier, the dates and the issuing Certificator, and nothing else.
3.4 The Foundation may suspend or revoke a certification under Section 8 of the Policy. You are notified with the reasons and may appeal.
4. Use of the Marks
4.1 While your certification is valid you may use the corresponding Verana Certified mark with your name, in the form published by the Foundation, on your profile, résumé, signature and personal communications.
4.2 You may not use the mark for a Track or level you do not hold, suggest an endorsement by the Foundation of a product, service or opinion, alter the mark, or use it after your certification expires or is revoked.
5. Registry and publication
5.1 You choose, at enrollment, whether your name, certification, Program Version, validity dates and issuing Certificator are listed in the public Registry on veranafoundation.org. You may change that choice at any time from your account. Verification by certificate identifier works whether or not you are listed.
5.2 Your certification supports the organization designation of the organization that employs you, under Section 9 of the Policy, and the Foundation may confirm its validity to that organization and its Certificator.
6. Fees
6.1 Fees payable to the Foundation are set out in Annex A of the Policy. Fees are non-refundable once an assessment has been attempted or a credential issued, except as required by law.
6.2 Fees of a Certificator are set by the Certificator and paid to it.
7. Personal data
7.1 The Foundation processes your personal data to administer your enrollment, assessments, certifications and the Registry, as described in the privacy policy of veranafoundation.org and in Section 13 of the Policy. The Certificator that assesses you processes your data under its own responsibility and transmits your results to the Foundation.
7.2 You may exercise your data protection rights with the Foundation at the address published in the privacy policy.
8. Appeals
8.1 You may appeal a result or a decision of the Certification Office within thirty days of its notification, under Section 12 of the Policy.
9. Liability
9.1 The Program, the Curriculum and the platform are provided as they are. The Foundation is not liable for the acts of a Certificator, for your results, or for any reliance by a third party on your certification. To the extent permitted by law, the aggregate liability of the Foundation and of 2060 OÜ to you under these Terms shall not exceed the fees you paid to the Foundation in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Changes, law and disputes
10.1 The Foundation may amend these Terms and the Policy under Section 15 of the Policy. An assessment is governed by the version in force on the day of the attempt.
10.2 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. Disputes are first submitted to the appeal procedure of the Policy and then, failing amicable settlement, to the courts of Tallinn, Estonia, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.
10.3 These Terms are written in English; translations are for convenience only.
